According to the 2016 Harris Poll Reputation Quotient, the majority of Americans will do a little research on a company before doing business. If they find out a company has a bad reputation, over a third will opt out.
That's why Ford is so proud to have been named one of Ethisphere Institute's World’s Most Ethical Companies® for the seventh year in a row.
"This honor celebrates our employees who are committed to doing the right things and making the right choices," said executive chairman Bill Ford. "Ethics and corporate citizenship are the foundation of what drives us to make people’s lives better."
He does mean that quite literally, too. One of the several criteria by which Ethisphere grades companies is the culture of ethics set by top and middle management. Ethisphere took an in-depth look at the employees running Ford to ensure they were doing more than just paying lip-service to the idea of environmental sustainability and human rights.
Other sources agree. In 2015, Ford Motor Company was named one of America's Best Employers by Forbes, received a 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign 2015 Corp. Equality Index, and is one of LinkedIn's 100 Most InDemand Employers.
