In order to get some really great gas mileage, habits have to be changed and new ones formed. We almost always speed up from a stop to reach our desired speed way too fast. Simply apply continuous pressure on the gas pedal until you reach your desired speed. Gunning the engine wastes gas and is very bad for the engine as well.

Improperly inflated tires is a real culprit when it comes to stealing gasoline. Make sure your tires are properly inflated. Use cruise control on the highway. This will keep your gas flowing to your engine at a steady pace, rather than speeding up and slowing down continuously. That is a waste of gas. Keep your engine properly tuned. A poorly tuned engine doesn't burn all the gasoline, and it spews pollution into the air while taking money out of your wallet to do so.
